Platinum Jubilee fever has officially arrived. It’s the first time any British monarch has celebrated 70 years on the throne – so it’s party time. (Added bonus: we get not one but TWO Bank Holidays!) So, to commemorate this historic event, here’s an edit of our favourite Jubilee-themed design pieces
The Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday celebrates the Queen spending 70 years as our ruler (in case you’ve spent the last few years living under a rock. If so, we hope it was at least a well-designed one!). So here are 7 Jubilee-themed interiors pieces – one for every 10 years of Elizabeth II’s reign. Browse them all, then get shopping!
This Union Jack stool
Featuring a hand-carved ash frame and traditional button-shaped seat stuffed with natural latex, coconut coir and pure merino wool, this counter stool is both comfy and stylish. But it’s also eco-friendly: buy a stool and chairmakers Gabriella James will ‘Plant a tree for the Jubilee’ in association with charity The Queen’s Green Canopy.
This Warhol-esque retro roller blind
Andy Warhol fans and royalists, eat your heart out. This neon bright roller blind is straight out of the 1960s Pop Art era and will add a touch of glamour to your windows. It comes in blackout fabric and is one of a range of eight blinds BlindsbyPost have created to commemorate the Jubilee. However, the rest of the designs are a bit more understated.
This limited edition bespoke Jubilee fridge-freezer
This Union Jack fridge-freezer comes in soft pastel tones of lavender and peach as well as in classic black, but there are only 70 models of each available. In addition, each comes with SpaceMax, giving you more storage space. And, while you might not be as well-off as the Queen, if you order before 7 June at Samsung.com, you get £140 off. Bonus!
This comfy and stylish picnic blanket
So cosy and snug, this Merino lambswool throw is super-soft for curling up on the sofa. With its leather straps, it doubles as a picnic blanket, perfect for garden parties celebrating the Jubilee. However, it’s not Jubilee-branded so you could use it for future summer events when supporting Britain, such as World Cups and Wimbledon.
This Platinum Jubilee cup and saucer
This delicate cup and saucer set features exquisite hand-drawn illustrations in a lovely dusky muted pink. It’s crafted from fine bone china, made from Cornish clay. To mark the occasion, it’s emblazoned with a banner saying ‘Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee’. The design was inspired by the dress the Queen wore for her coronation in 1953.
These cute cake flags for a Platinum Jubilee celebration
Fancy a scone? Don’t mind if we do. And these cake toppers would be perfect for any street or garden party. The set of 10 features 3 Union Jack flags, 2 ‘hip hip’ flags, 2 ‘hooray’ flags and 3 foiled crowns. You can re-use all of them for any other patriotic events such as sporting occasions, if you want to cheer Britain on. Hip hip, hooray!
This pretty and colourful wreath
In vivid brights and soft pastels, this striking wreath will give your front door a burst of floral Jubilee enthusiasm. It features a wooden crown and ‘2022’ motif. It also has a jute string so you can hang it indoors, or on lamp posts or trees if you’re having a street party or garden party. In addition, it will make a lovely memento after the Jubilee has passed.
