Textured bathrooms: the aesthetic you really want to touch
Posted on 24th December 2024
A calm colour palette equals a restful bathroom; but what if you combined it with some irresistible, tactile finishes? The latest bathroom trend is all about those organic, feel-good surfaces that promise to awaken your sense of touch…
Fluted and reeded furniture was big in 2024 – and it’s becoming even more prominent in 2025, as are raw materials that practically beg us to touch them. From wood to clay to stone, it’s all about texture, so don’t be afraid to experiment with the most unprocessed materials to give your bathroom an unfiltered look and tactile feel.
“2024 was the year of colourful bathrooms and, whilst colour will continue to play a role, the focus will now be placed on pattern and texture,” says Big Bathroom Shop’s style expert Rikki Fothergill.
María D Arráez, director of Tile of Spain UK, agrees, saying, “Bathrooms are extremely sensory spaces, where homeowners and designers are increasingly seeking to bring in different textures and ‘feeling’ without overpowering the space.”

María also suggests ‘three-dimensional’ tiles to add an extra sense of texture and comfort. “Using 3D tiles can help bring that additional level of raw, organic and nurturing ambience.”
