Geberit AquaClean is the bathroom choice of champions, including Olympic silver medallist Victoria Thornley. Preparation, including paying attention to the smallest detail, has always been key to the former Team GB rower’s success. From her recovery off the water to getting enough sleep and eating well, each element influences the next. So, it’s no surprise that when it came to renovating her compact bathroom, Victoria adopted a similar approach
And Geberit AquaClean was the perfect choice. Victoria knew she wanted to maximise the bathroom’s floor area. She was keen to make the space as practical and supportive of her professional athletic needs as possible. But of course, it had to be beautiful and relaxing, too.
The key? The Geberit AquaClean shower toilet. But of course, Victoria approached the whole space with those principles in mind.
“One of my favourite self-care routines is to have a warm bath filled with aromatherapy oils, candles lit and reading a book,” she smiles. But importantly, the scheme had to be smart too.
“In the boat, I’m all about making those marginal gains every day,” Victoria explains. “And technology plays a key part in helping me to achieve this. This is the same in my bathroom.”
About the AquaClean
Shower toilets combine cleanliness with sustainability, as you no longer need to use any loo roll. The WC cleans you at
the touch of a button. This can be controlled via a remote or the Geberit Home app, which allows you to save up to four users’ personal preferences – so everything is just right.
It comes in very handy when you travel, as Victoria can attest. “If I’m on the move and away from home, which I often am, I can apply my personal settings to other AquaCleans.” And you really can personalise everything, from the water temperature to the spray intensity and even the nozzle position, so you get exactly the right clean for you every time. It doesn’t matter whether you’re in Caversham or across the world in Tokyo.
The WC doesn’t only clean and dry you, though. Its rimless bowl design leaves no space for bacteria to breed, and a descaling programme gives limescale zero chance to build up.
With all this in mind, Victoria turned to Geberit to help her create a dream design. It matches both her style and practical requirements.
Having limited space, they included a shower-bath combination. This is perfect for Victoria’s morning rinse and evening soak. An illuminated mirror was added to provide task lighting.
But the AquaClean is the main draw
But it’s the wall-hung Monolith version of Geberit’s Mera AquaClean shower toilet that’s the star of the show. It combines clean lines with the latest technology.
Its design matches the classic-contemporary look of the bathroom and helps it feel more spacious. But best of all? Victoria loves its heated seat.
“As I spend a lot of time training in the winter when it’s really cold and icy outside, it’s very welcoming to come in after a cold-water session to use it,” she laughs. Which goes to show: it really is the little details that matter.
