Dreaming of the day you buy a kitchen – your dream design that you’ve been planning for years? I feel you. The excitement is real. I remember it well: looking at countless samples, having designs drawn out and visiting showrooms. I often wish I could do it all over again for the sheer enjoyment of the creative process. And occasionally I even have a little dabble with online planning tools, just for fun.
However, when you buy a kitchen, it’s also a pretty daunting time. So many vital decisions, so many trades to deal with, all while watching the budget very quickly drain away.
If you’re in the market to buy a kitchen, and feeling a little hesitant with the enormity of the project, our September 2022 issue (out August 2nd) has an easy-to-follow guide on what you need to do in those early planning stages.
It also includes a helpful budget breakdown to give you an idea of costings, top tips on what to bring with you when visiting a showroom, and tips on how to gather inspiration and collate the perfect moodboard. (Buying the magazine and reading thesethreerooms.com is a great start before you buy a kitchen.)

Another area that I’ve found can cause confusion is the wetroom – so we explain everything you need to know on how to create one of these widely sought-after designs.
We also have plenty of other inspiration and advice, from looking at the trend of wooden cabinetry and dissecting what colour means in the bedroom.
For instance, did you know that green bedrooms are perfect for bringing a sense of serenity to your space?
As always, we also showcase amazing real projects, which will help when you come to buy a kitchen. These include our cover home, with our gorgeous cover star Molly, a bordoodle (a border collie and poodle cross, in case you were wondering).
You can even check out a little behind the scenes of the cover shoot in the video above! I love the difference mix of styles in this kitchen; it’s a really fun, but grown-up space!
Whatever your project, there’s something for everyone, so pick up a copy or subscribe here. And if you’re about to buy a kitchen – good luck, and we’d love to see how your projects unfold! So be sure to tag us on Instagram or use #KBBmag.
