Now, let’s discover what’s going to be big in our kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms this spring and summer season…
SS23 interior design trends: Biophilic designs
There’s something positively invigorating about seeing spring buds appearing – and bringing an element of nature inside the home can have the same effect. The continuing trend of the biophilic design is set to soar this season, with delicate, nature-inspired details featuring on wallpaper patterns, bedding and even carpet designs.
If you want to refresh your kitchen-diner, choose a grand botanical mural, which is set to teleport you in a tranquil scenery. In your ensuite or downstairs loo, you can opt for a bold garden-inspired wallpaper design to add a dash of drama. Then, in your bedroom, go for a bedding set with delicate floral motifs to fully embrace spring.
Viva magenta!
Pantone announced the colour of 2023 is a vibrant shade of pinky red, and we’re pleased to see it already as one of the SS23 interior design trends. Test the waters by adding soft furnishings such as cushions and curtains in this tone to your existing scheme – or commit to the colour by upholstering an armchair or refreshing your bathroom with a bold basin.
Plus, Kitchenaid‘s new colourway is a bright fuchsia – Hibiscus. So, if you dare to go bold with colour, why not brighten up your countertops with pretty appliances?
Marine life
Seaside themes are often a staple of springtime collections. However, to avoid your space from looking too cliché, try to steer away from the traditional combination of navy and white. Instead, why not lean into a modern take on the coastal trend by featuring mossy greens, pale pinks and ocean blues alongside coral motifs?
From airy curtains to striking wallpaper and ornate home furnishings, give seaside prints a try in order to create a space where you can escape to at the end of the day.
Curves and arches
We’ve already seen curves prove popular as design elements around the rest of the home, but they really seem to be having a moment in bathrooms this year. Round mirrors and basins are a good starting point with this trend, while curved storage systems and towel radiators with smooth edges take it one step further.
Love a bubbly soak? Then, elevate your experience with a perfectly round bath – yes, please!

This classic pattern has taken over the interiors world recently. From the chequerboard flooring to the multi-coloured gingham prints, there are plenty of ways to embrace this SS23 interior design trend.
For example, in your kitchen, you can swap your old splashback with modern metro tiles in creamy shades. Then, in your bedroom, boost your mood with help from vibrant, patterned wallpaper and furnishings.
“Once subsumed within traditional design, the chequerboard pattern emerged as its very own trend and has now evolved into one of the hottest styles within bathrooms,” says Barrie Cutchie, design director at BC Designs. To bring this look up-to-date, move away from monochrome and towards warm browns and beiges.
Country charm
Traditional-style bedrooms are making a comeback. But ensure your space feels calm by sticking to subtle tones and motifs that can be layered on top of one another.
This season’s country-style must-haves such as empire shade table lamps, embroidered textiles and upholstered furniture help to complete the look.
This SS23 interior design trend oozes a boutique hotel feeling – what’s not to love, right?
