It’s Christmas time here at Kitchens Bedrooms & Bathrooms HQ – our festive December issue is now out!
Ok, I admit it, I adore Christmas, and love choosing the tree. We always take a long time to make sure we’ve got just the right one – it must almost touch the ceiling – and then we christen it. It started with Montana when our children were young (after, Hannah, get it?) and the stage was set. Next came Nebraska, Alaska and Connecticut, to name but a few.
The smell of the Christmas tree is pure magic. As we dig out the decorations, untangle the fairy lights and unwrap our lovely but slightly bonkers collection of baubles, I start to feel excited. And investing in a new bauble or two every year at Liberty, my all-time favourite shop, is an annual treat.
Kitchens for hosting
Christmas, of course, is all about the joys of cooking, eating, and spending time together, so the moment we spotted this amazing kitchen by The Main Company – which is perfect for festive celebrations – we knew we had found our December cover. It’s such a rich and intriguing design and features a wonderful combination of colours, beautiful and ancient windows, gorgeous leather banquette seating and an eclectic mix of materials.
As a lover of white walls and pared back interiors, I’m equally obsessed with Searle & Taylor’s kitchen in Winchester, which overlooks the South Downs. Seemingly simple, it’s full of cool details and it’s got Scandi chic written all over it. Have to say, I’d be incredibly happy for it to be my kitchen!

Christmas decorating ideas
If you want to be the host (or hostess) with the mostest, Irina’s got loads of brilliant seasonal notions to jolly up your kitchen in time for Christmas.
In addition, we speak to lighting and interior designers to gather their ideas on creating the ultimate entertaining space for the festive period. Plus, for our oenophiles, we’ve got lots of tips on how to store your wine and even create the perfect home bar.
Designer interview
Finally, for the Last Word, I chat with homeware designer Clarissa Hulse about her latest creations for Blinds2Go. I’ve long been an admirer of Clarissa’s whimsical work and love how she’s introduced a strong blast of pattern and colour to her gorgeous ready-made curtain designs.
Enjoy the issue!
