From rich terracotta and miniature basins to curvy mirrors, if you’re looking for fresh bathroom ideas, here are 10 we’re loving right now…

Trying to decide on how to update your bathroom can be overwhelming, we know. Our editor Georgina nearly had a breakdown trying to choose a grout colour! So, if you need a little help getting started, I have popped together a list of ideas I’ve spotted while recently out and about that I hope will inspire your project.

Terracotta tones

You’ll have probably seen terracotta flooring before – but have you seen a terracotta-coloured bath? Well, now you have. We are literally seeing this tone everywhere at the moment; from sleek, handleless vanity units to daring wall tiles. The shade of terracotta is known for its earthy qualities, so if you fancy using this in your bathroom, then consider pairing it with other natural materials, from wood to rattan. Or even a glamorous marble, that has veining in a similar palette, would look beautiful. Accessorise with some house plants, and you’ve got yourself a very trendy bathroom.

Bathroom ideas: Micro basins

I love a micro basin – don’t you? Apart from the obvious benefits of their compact size in smaller spaces, they’re often found in fun shapes, colours and materials, from ceramic to microcement, completing any statement WC or quirky ensuite. They’re also ideal if you want a more industrial-style design as they usually have exposed metallic drainage. Why not match the rest of the brassware to this for a real cohesive scheme? Because they’re so small, we recommend looking for some wall accessories for your soaps, lotions, and towels.

Fluting

Fluting is BIG right now – in every room of the house. Even in the bathroom alone, there are so many possibilities with this finish: think shower screens, vanity units, wall tiles, lighting and accessories. The best part is that fluting complements most design styles, from spa-like Scandi to a more industrial look. This idea is best done as a feature rather than an apply-to-all. So, choose carefully where or what you want to flute – this way it’ll make much more of an impact and won’t be OTT.

Curvy mirrors

While we’re all for the straight lines of fluting, we also like the curvier direction mirrors are going in. These new, organically shaped designs take inspiration from nature – think waves and pebbles. And while they may look minimalistic, some can have rather complicated tech – boasting smart features like fog-free settings or built-in lighting. Beautiful and practical, what’s not to like?

Bathroom ideas: Colourful shower trays

The shower tray is finally getting the love it deserves with a beautiful pop of colour. Once limited to plain white and a few neutrals, the choices are now much more exciting – from pastel pinks and greens to rich blues. Imagine coordinating the colour of your shower tray with your bathroom tiles to make them flow from one another. So dreamy!

The bathroom is stealing a kitchen staple, and we are here for it. Everyone, you can now get a Belfast sink basin in your bathroom! Can you tell we love this idea? With amazing engineering, these recycled materials look good and are durable and kind to the planet, too. Tick, tick and tick!

Opulent gold

Gold – the epitome of luxury – is back on our radar. Think polished brassware, gleaming basins, and radiant handles. To add a dash of glamour to your bathroom, opt for gold-plated solutions, such as taps, showers or bath mixers. Or, for a pared-back, budget-friendly approach, embrace this luxe look with the help of golden-effect sanitaryware and matching hardware. As long as it’s shiny, it can stay!

Shower control evolution

Petition to never have to do the awkward dance of turning on your shower while trying not to get wet! Have you already signed it? Well, the solution to this problem, perhaps simpler than you would have thought, is to place the controls outside of the showerhead’s scope. Eureka! However, this needs to be factored in at the planning stage of your new bathroom to ensure the correct pipe placement.

Tired of scrubbing your bathroom walls? Say hello to waterproof panels that replicate the look of tiles.
