What we spotted at Decorex 2024: trends and new launches

Decorex 2024

Decorex 2024, a four-day design event, was packed with new collections, design innovations and gorgeous displays boasting creativity – and we were there to scour them all for amazing finds.

Want to be in the know? Read on to find out what’s currently trending, and which new products you should have on your radar.

1. Stripes and geometry

Stripes are truly having a renaissance, with designers making it part of their collections in all kinds of colours and forms. From Ian Mankin’s playful striped curtains and furnishings to Alternative Flooring’s pared-back carpets, this is one simple yet truly versatile pattern that’s ideal for adding character to your space.

There were also brands such as Holmes Bespoke, which embraced the wider geometric trend with carpets and furniture featuring linear design and elements, while textile designer Hannah Robson celebrated checkerboard with a series of colourful blankets.

2. Nature-inspired prints and soft textures

Biophilic design isn’t going anywhere any time soon, which became particularly apparent at Decorex 2024. Think flowers, leaves or actual trees dominating the various displays, as well as soft furnishings that reflect the effortless cosiness of the season.

Brands such as Sofas & Stuff, Tatie Lou and Woodchip & Magnolia led the way with flower-filled wallpapers and fabrics that look as if they’ve sprung out of an actual forest. Woodchip & Magnolia even combined the stripe and biophilic trend in one look, in its very-maximalist, truly whimsical display.

3. Earthy, autumnal hues

Continuing from the nature-themed look, earthy shades were also a big part of the exhibits, with autumnal terracotta, forest greens, ochres and yellows stealing the show. Graham & Green, Ian Mankin and Oka were some of the brands celebrating the fall season.

At the same time, Benjamin Moore’s stand combined this autumn feel with accent, moodier elements, such as a dark teal shade on the wall, while fun pops of colour, like Kast’s striking basins, proved that a little (or in this case a lot of!) colour can go a long way when it comes to breaking up the autumnal ‘blues’.

New releases

While many of the Decorex 2024 stands included a lot of the brands’ beloved products and best sellers, there were some new releases to watch, including three of our favourites – all in the brassware and hardware department.

In terms of brassware, Samuel Heath showcased its 19th finish, Old Brass Matt, which is the latest addition to the brand’s aged brass collection and available across all key collections. Its alluring vintage layered finish has been expertly crafted to elicit an antiqued appearance, without the need to wait for a natural brass patina to develop.

Crofts & Assinder displayed three new ranges, including the Skomer handles that comprise contiguous flat discs intercepted by a central hourglass silhouette.

The brand’s new Bamburgh handle family is another one to watch – it uses the visual spectacle of the interior of an industrial coil, blended with a simple design, to create a timeless product. The handles come in three main finishes: Brushed Satin Brass, Brushed Satin Nickel and Matt Black.

Turnstyle Designs has also launched the Plinth collection, which joins the brand’s wide variety of door, cabinet and window hardware. It includes door levers, pulls and cabinet handles, each available to customise with solid or hand-hammered brass, the brand’s own material creation, AmalfineTM, or using beautiful hand-stitched Italian saddle leather.

We certainly feel inspired after visiting the design show – and we hope this edit gave you a few ideas for your own project, too! To check out editor Georgina’s top Decorex 2024 picks, click here.
