Lit-up candles, sizzling hot water, a glass of wine and a good read – in my book, nothing can beat the relaxing feeling of a bubbly soak. So, if you’re looking to upgrade your tub, we’ve rounded up some of the latest products on the market…
From fluted to freestanding, the latest baths boast aesthetic appeal and practicality thanks to their versatility in sizes, shapes, and materials. But, when choosing your new design, it’s important to take into consideration both your lifestyle and personal taste, and then analyse what’s possible with your bathroom size.
To save space, for example, a back-to-wall solution is a great option, which also offers the possibility of a shower addition. If you’re looking to create a family-friendly bathroom, a larger tub can easily accommodate little ones and all their toys. Or do you love sharing? A double-ended tub ensures comfort for two, as the filler sits in the middle.
In terms of styles, the latest bathtub designs on the market are adorned with texture, from silky smooth to reeded, and apart from classic, crisp white, they’re also available in bolder shades such as forest green and warm terracotta.

Fabulously fluted
Fluting is one of the most popular finishes in design at the moment, and it’s not going anywhere. Embrace it in your bathroom with the new Barnet 1500mm back-to-wall fluted freestanding bath from Bathroom Mountain. Made from Lucite acrylic, it has an integrated waste and overflow.
If you’re designing a family-friendly bathroom, or have simply got the space, it also comes in a 1700mm version, in a left- and right-handed option.
Glossy curves
Scudo by Harrison Bathrooms has launched three freestanding baths, each meant to bring their own personality into your bathroom design: the practical, back-to-wall Porto, the rectangular Choices with soft, rounded edges, and the chic, delicate Coral.
Coral, for example, has a graceful, almost wavy shape and a gloss white finish, suiting modern and traditional bathrooms. Its water capacity of 188 litres makes it ideal for long, indulgent soaks, while its acrylic surface is durable and easy to maintain – yes, please!
Jewel box bath
Who says you need a supersized bath to decompress? Designed by Nic Design and available from Bathroom Design Studio, the ultra-compact Size is the perfect example of a practical yet luxurious tub.
Inspired by vintage wooden bathtub designs, it features an ergonomic seat, a slatted base made from Iroko timber, and an integrated shelf. Space-saving baths
Renovating a smaller bathroom? The Sal tub from Roca is a great, space-saving solution for modern or minimalist schemes. A back-to-wall design is ideal for maximising floor space while not compromising on style.
Sal is made from acrylic, which ensures the tub retains heat effectively so you can enjoy your bubbly soaks for longer. What’s more, it is also durable and low-maintenance thanks to its smooth, non-porous surface.
Sleek and sophisticated
The Astonian stone resin bath, the latest release from Aston Matthews, measures 1700 x 760mm and oozes charm and aesthetic appeal. The bath is crafted from a durable, solid surface material with a tactile matt white finish, making it practical, too. With an elegant, thin profile, it is suitable for use with both a floorstanding or wall-mounted tap.
Metallic finishes
The Meda freestanding bath by Laufen has had an upgrade – it is now available in a chic copper finish. Made from Marbond, a composite material which offers a matt surface with plenty of benefits. It has antibacterial properties, is slip and temperature-resistant, as well as easy to clean and hygienic.
Depending on the size of your bathroom, you can choose from two options: 1600 x 750 x 590 mm and 1800 x 800 x 590 mm. The latter costs £3154.62.
