Planning a bathroom project? To help inspire your wall and floor covering choices, we’ve asked the experts for their tile trend predictions for 2025…
Picture mixed and matched marble, rich jewel tones, and playful laying patterns – these are just some of the popular bathroom tile trends for 2025. Intrigued? Let’s begin…
Neutral and natural
Natural materials, tactile finishes, and warm, neutral colour palettes are predicted to be big in 2025 – perfect if you want your bathroom to feel like a tranquil, spa-like sanctuary. Carly Allison, head of product design at Fired Earth, explains: “This year, soft shades inspired by natural materials like terracotta and sand are replacing cooler tones, bringing warmth and encouraging an organic feel in bathrooms.”
Lee Thornley, founder of Bert & May, agrees and adds: “I expect to see more natural materials and earthy-toned colour schemes as we continue to seek grounding through nature.”
Damla Turgut, founder and creative director at Otto Tiles & Design, has also spotted an increased demand for natural materials such as terracotta, terrazzo, marble, and other forms of natural stone. “For colours, expect to see nature-inspired tones across the spectrum from soft beige to earthy clay, taupe, and a variety of green hues to play a prominent role in bathroom design. Material-wise, terrazzo and zellige tiles remain popular.”
Personality-driven bathrooms
However, at the complete opposite spectrum, renovators are starting to feel more confident in using pattern, colour, and texture in bathrooms. Damla even says maximalism is making a return this year but with an elegant edge. “Whilst we’re not fully returning to the all-out, chaotic maximalism of years gone by, the 2025 version is more curated, intentional, and elegant.
“As such, we have seen an increase in more statement patterns, and bolder, more vivid shades, especially in bathrooms and powder rooms, as homeowners are seeking sophisticated interior choices. We’re experimenting with unexpected combinations of colour, pattern and style to create schemes which feel expressive and artistic.”
Pattern play
Speaking of pattern, it is one of the key tile trends for 2025. Chic stripes and the timeless checkerboard have proven they’re here to stay, and this year, we can expect even more creative tile designs using geometric patterns and graphic shapes. “Bold, geometric patterns and unique tile forms are transforming walls, floors, and backsplashes into statement pieces,” says Louisa Morgan, creative director at Mandarin Stone.
Marble remix
Marble is a timeless choice, whether we’re talking tiles, sanitaryware or worksurfaces. However, here comes the twist – Louisa says this tile trend is reaching new heights in 2025, and mixing different types of marble will be the go-to choice for achieving a layered look. “Blend highly veined options with subtle, plainer varieties or try mixing tumbled, antique finishes with the more contemporary, honed styles,” she advises.
But don’t stop there; you can take this trend one step further by mixing and matching different colourways and playing with various laying patterns for a statement look.
Jewel tones
2025 is the year rich jewel tones will be a popular choice in bathroom design. Louisa Alice, creative director at Mosaic Factory, says: “We’re seeing a shift in colour choices from our customers who are opting for brighter, more vivid colours for their homes. Purple-coloured tiles are a popular choice now, with people gravitating towards this jewel-toned colour palette.”
Louisa at Mandarin Stone agrees and adds: “Jewel tones like burgundy or deep red feel dramatic and regal, ideal for luxurious interiors, whereas emerald greens give a nod to nature and add an air of freshness and elegance. Rich blue tones such as cobalt or midnight navy have a classic appeal whilst still feeling atmospheric.”
Micro mosaics
Lastly, micro mosaics are continuing to be big this year – from fluted kit-kat slabs to tiny hexagon shapes, these small but mighty wall and floor solutions are perfect for elevating your vanity area or drenching your walk-in shower.
So, which tile trend will you embrace for your redesign?
