Six bedroom trends for 2025 to get inspired by

When it comes to bedroom design, it’s easy to get bogged down in the all-important details, like getting the best bedding, sourcing soothing lighting, and introducing things to aid sleep. But what about the décor, aka the fun part? KBB journo Laurie Davidson has got the lowdown…

This soft cream headboard by Pia Design adds a playful feel to what is otherwise a pretty and feminine bedroom scheme. “We designed this custom wall-to-wall fitted headboard with a scalloped edge, in a soft cream bouclé fabric with pink velvet piping,” explains Pia. “The wall-to-wall design has the effect of lengthening the wall and creating a focal point in the room.

Sometimes it’s just nice to look at what’s trending and whip up some inspiration for a room refresh. Enjoying the process of poring over colour palettes, wallpaper swatches, and new bedroom additions can be pretty satisfying.

With that in mind, we’ve spotted some of this year’s key trends that should whet your appetite, whatever your style. Read on to get those creative juices flowing…

1. Extended headboards

Extended headboards are becoming more and more fashionable, and are a great way to achieve a bespoke, hotel feel within your bedroom. Whether you opt for a plush velvet design, a tactile bouclé, or an upholstered, patterned fabric, you may use them to incorporate wall lights, add detail with shape, and to provide a luxurious-looking frame for your bed.

This smart bedroom design by Studio Raymond has been elevated by the headboard. “We designed this master bedroom to be both a sanctuary and a space for quiet productivity,” says founder and interior designer Carina Raymond. “A palette of soft greens and turquoise brings a sense of serenity, while layers of natural textures add depth and warmth. The bespoke velvet headboard, in a rich turquoise by Holly Hunt, incorporates integrated reading lights from Pooky, while the silk wallcoverings by Phillip Jeffries cocoon the room in softness.”

2. Drenching

Colour drenching rooms has been huge on the interior circuit, but so has pattern. Fancy using the same print on walls, bedding, and even accessories? It’s a great way to get maximum impact from a much-loved pattern, and, in some cases, can be blended down right from the ceiling to the floor.

3. Earthy neutrals

Neutrals have surged into bedroom interiors, along with botanical style in recent years, but this new ‘earthy neutrals’ trend has much more depth to it. Rather than ivory and sand colours, opt for terracotta, dark brown and stoney beige, whether that’s on your bedroom walls or with soft furnishings and accessories.

Add another dimension to your bedroom with a stone backdrop. “Earthy neutrals bring a quiet elegance to bedrooms – a space which should feel restful and grounded,” says Oli Webb, director of Cullifords. “Materials like travertine, marble, and limestone offer warmth, texture, and timeless appeal whilst helping to create a cocooning atmosphere.” Wall clad in travertine, from £480 per sq m, Cullifords.

The key here is to get a good mix of textures and pattern to keep your décor from looking bland. Opt for furniture where you can see the wood grain, include vintage pieces for interest, and layer bedding in a few variations of the same colour. Lastly, pick out accessories with clean lines to keep your bedroom feeling calm and cosy.

4. Modern folk

Step into a bedroom layered with pattern, colour, embellished details, and boho touches – a room that’s full of handcrafted pieces and creative flourishes. But while folk style has traditionally been fairly twee, this year sees a much more sophisticated style coming through into bedroom design.

Panelled blocks of leafy wallpaper work together with a thin striped headboard and gingham in this eclectic bedroom scheme. Bobbin legs on the bedside table, along with paintings, woven baskets, and a pleated lamp shade complete the folk-style aesthetic. “This look lends a modern twist to classic country style, with a playful combination of layered pattern, vintage pieces, and colourful artwork,” says John Rastall, head of home at DFS. Joules Thornton Red Stripe king bedframe, £1249, DFS.

Think dashes of fresh florals, crisp stripes and sculptural shapes, with deep punctuations of confident colour and heritage-style patterns. Not to be confused with the maximalist trend, this look is much more considered and is a perfect blend of artful craftmanship, homely textiles, and nature-inspired motifs.

Blues and reds have been teamed with crisp white in this bedroom scheme; but it’s the smaller details that give it that modern folk style, including the hand-carved leaf motif border on the wooden ottoman, the floral embroidered felt rug, and the crochet throw. 5. Maximalist bedrooms

This is more of an evolved bedroom trend than a new one, but it’s one that looks set to stay. Maximalism has seen bedrooms turn into bold, vibrant spaces, with clashing colours and patterns that infuse them with personality. And, this year, we’ve seen the look become even more theatrical.

Marrakech-influenced bedroom trend with a statement headboard, patterned wallcoverings and neutral linen.
“We wanted this bedroom to feel bold and memorable, so we weren’t afraid to make a statement,” says Melissa Hutley, co-founder and interior designer at Hutley & Humm. “The wallpaper (Thibaut High Plains T13227 Bluestone) was the starting point. From there, we pulled out the rich yellow tone and the diamond motif, which inspired the bespoke headboard design, with its Marrakech-influenced shape and diamond cut-out details.” Room design, Hutley & Humm.

“It’s not a trend for the faint hearted, but it is really easy to bring into your bedroom through carefully chosen wallpaper and fabrics, if you stick to a few ground rules,” advises Jamie Watkins, co-founder of Divine Savages.

“Our advice is to pull out a key colour from your wallpaper for any paintwork and accessories – the result is both stylish and sophisticated, and prevents a bold print from overwhelming the space. The closer the colour match, the more cohesive the look.”

This deliciously dark bedroom has been taken to the next level with an oversized velvet bed in deep emerald green, luxurious, sweeping curtains, and a wallpaper displaying large floral blooms. The green colour has been taken onto the ceiling, where an Art Deco-style gold and glass pendant takes centre stage. Rich burgundy accessories and marble-top tables are among the finishing touches. 6. Castlecore bedrooms

We’ve seen cottagecore, and we’ve seen Regencycore, so I suppose it was only a matter of time before another ‘core’ introduced itself into the world of interiors… this time in the guise of castlecore.

You may not have stone walls or the high ceilings of a grand hall or castle chamber, but that doesn’t mean you can’t create a similar vibe in your own bedroom. An ornate ceiling rose will draw the eye up, especially when teamed with a candelabra-style chandelier overhead. If your room allows, add in a seating area in which to hold court. “Sleep in style in your own castle in a four-poster bed with vintage glass chandelier above and a silk rug underfoot for modern luxury,” says Nicky Dobree, who designed this room. Inspired by medieval castles, this trend can easily be replicated in your bedroom, with plush upholstered furniture, wall tapestries, and grand antique pieces. This look is feminine and full of frills – think curtain valences, pleated lamp shades and intricate bedspreads, and even a grand, four-poster bed, worthy of any royal.
