Planning your dream project? Say hello to our September issue! This month, we’re revealing this year’s top 10 wishlist items – one of which is the kitchen island…
Yes, when it comes to kitchens, you can have style trends like green cabinetry, statement stone or tactile materials – but you can also have trends in terms of design. And right now, islands are dominating.
Island living
In my years of working for KBB, I have never seen such variety, interest, and unique solutions when it comes to how homeowners and designers are tackling this much-loved fixture – often discerned as being the very heart of the home. It’s where we gather with friends, work from home, where our kids practise their phonics, where we prepare food, where we plonk the shopping bags, keep important everyday utensils and accessories, show off our chef skills, wrap the Christmas presents, etc. It has to work hard and look good doing it.
I can’t tell you why this feature is trending right now – all I can say is that, currently, our top read online articles, have something to do with kitchen islands; that anything we post on our Instagram, @KBBmagazine, related to them, does incredibly well.
The island also has a very high place in this issue’s main feature on ‘The top 10 kitchen wishlist items’. All of this led me to the decision to create our largest-ever feature on kitchen islands, where you’ll discover 40 completely different designs that are perfect for everything mentioned above. If you’re planning a new kitchen soon, my suggestion would be to cut out the ones you like (and the ones you don’t) to start off your dream moodboard.
Project inspiration
Of course, there’s plenty of other hot topics to discover this month. We’re spotlighting fanciful fridges that add that perfect extra touch to your kitchen design and diving into the latest decorating ideas with terrazzo, the speckled surface that’s taking over the interiors world.
We’ve packed in plenty of ideas to help you create your dream shower, too! From mixers and trays to spa-style set-ups, there’s loads to get you inspired. Not to mention, the bedroom details that make all the difference.
Real case studies
And let’s not forget our gorgeous real case studies (all of which have very different kitchen islands, FYI). I particularly like our cover home, which I had the pleasure of visiting and styling – now that’s an island worth talking about.
As always, a massive thank you to you, dear reader, for your continuous support of KBB. I hope this issue helps with wherever you are in your exciting renovation journey,
