What do flapper dresses, a fair number of festival outfits, and cowboys have in common with high fashion and interior design?
A fringe (or multiple), of course. They’re a must-have in plenty of styles, were huge in fashion in 2022 – and now that’s translating into our homes, where these designs are increasingly gaining popularity, too.
But don’t worry – I may have mentioned cowboys in the intro, but that’s not the look we’ll be going for at all.
Instead, it’s all about adding layers and personality to your rooms. A fringe is a versatile addition to furniture and décor – from glamorous 1920s designs to cosy tassels and natural styles.
Want to bring it into your home? We’ve got some solutions right here.
Fringe ideas for your home
Up your style with ornate furniture and décor. In your kitchen and living areas, why not spice up your seating solutions with statement multi-coloured fringed barstools or tactile, embellished sofas and armchairs?
You could even add it to furniture, such a cabinets or side tables.
What are other ways of adding fringe designs to my home? How about outside of the kitchen and living room?
To bring the trend into your bedroom, dress your windows with ruffled curtains.
Lampshades also make for a good, versatile addition. The bonus? You can use them in every room – just make sure you keep to the safety zones if you want to use a lamp in your bathroom.
And for an extra cosy feel, sprinkle cushions with tasselled edges on your bed. Choose a soft throw, or a rug, with a fringe to finish the look.
And in the bathroom, embrace the look with fun bath mats and towels with braided frills.
Are there any smaller options that aren’t textiles?
Of course! If you don’t want to go all out and add large-scale fringed pieces to your home, this section is for you.
Why not pick a mirror with a fringe at the bottom? Or swap your existing rug for a design that follows this trend?
