Timeless glamour

Did you know that in the 1800s it was very fashionable to bring a pineapple to a party? The unusual fruit was all the range in the Victorian area – I promise this is relevant. If you’re into intricate lamps, the ones below have the essence and the aesthetic of an old stately home – think blue and white china, gold, exotic birds and (I told you I had a point) pineapples.

Metal and stone

Concrete is starting to sneak back into our homes, even in little ways – let’s call it light brutalism. The texture gives the lamps more intrigue than a plain base – other popular finishes include marble and veiny surfaces. Choosing simple lamp base shapes, like round or rectangular, puts the focus on the detailing of the design such as the metallic finishes or the beauty of stone.

Colourful lampshades and bases

Add a pop of colour to your bedroom with a stand-out lamp. You can simply choose a daring base and tone it down with a white shade or do the opposite by opting for a striking shade and paring it back with a neutral base. For a colour blocking look, go with one hue for both solutions.
