Sunny stripes, hotel style and summer fusion – the bedroom trends for 2024 are inspiring, uplifting and a guaranteed mood booster.
With the warmer months around the corner, even though it doesn’t feel like it now, I was excited to browse through Spring/ Summer 2024 lookbooks and seek insight and inspiration from the experts to discover the best bedroom trends in 2024.
Ready to embrace the fresh feeling of a new season? Then let’s begin, shall we?
Bedroom trends 2024:
70s-style bedrooms
Picture burnt brown, rich avocado and vibrant mustard – the 70s are back and better than ever! Amy Holton, head of creative at wallpaper brand Lust Home, feels retro prints are set to make a strong comeback in 2024. “Featuring saturated colours and bold geometric patterns, we’re going to be seeing a lot of bold patterns that work well in unexpected spaces,” says Amy. “Maximalism is also here to stay, with statement large-scale prints dominating the interior world in 2024.”

Boutique-hotel charm
Craving a getaway? Make that holiday feeling last by turning your bedroom into a boutique hotel destination. One of the Spring/Summer 2024 interiors trends from M&S is Classic Boutique. “Drawing inspiration from weekend escapes spent at boutique hotels, the classic style incorporates a curated mix of eclectic pieces in a statement palette of bold pastel tones, fused with contrasting patterns and intricate florals,” explains Karen Thomas, head of design at M&S Home.
Vintage-inspired detailing such as scalloped edges and bobbins continue to be popular in 2024. Dainty florals and a mix of linear patterns are another popular combination. To get that welcoming feeling in your bedroom, opt for a warming colour palette with rich neutrals, olive green, vibrant rust and dusty yellow.
Heritage-proud bedrooms
Another trend following on from boutique hotel bedrooms is embracing British heritage. Whether it’s through recreating the timeless country look through romantic, archival prints and classic wood furniture or designing an eclectic bedroom scheme by layering textures and mixing traditional and contemporary pieces. “If you’re looking to add a touch of British charm to a home, wallpaper is a great way to do so,” says Chelsea Clark, head of brand at Lucie Annabel.
“Focus on selecting patterns and colours that evoke a sense of tradition, timeless sophistication, and a touch of nostalgia. Embrace traditional British patterns such as stripes, florals, or checks, and choose a rich colour palette featuring deep greens, burgundy, royal navy, and warm neutrals. Create a focal point with an accent wall or pair with panelled walls or wainscoting to create the ultimate classic British look,” explains Chelsea.
Summer fusion
Mood-boosting shades are ideal for giving your bedroom a refresh just in time for spring. “Yellow is a big trend for 2024 and the perfect one to incorporate into your bedroom,” says Shelley Cochrane, accessories buyer at Furniture Village. “Renowned for its energising and uplifting qualities, it’s a wonderful colour to wake up to in the morning and to help you recuperate after a long day.”
Along with a rejuvenating colour palette, fun patterns such as zig-zags, gingham, stripes and chequerboard are a guaranteed way of brightening up your sleep sanctuary. As for furniture, rustic wood pieces are great for bringing in a grounding touch of nature. Sumptuous, upholstered solutions add an extra layer of comfort and style.

Stripes
Our obsession with stripes continues into the new year. From bold and blocky to slim and sophisticated, we’re seeing stripes taking over our interiors. “Whether you’re renovating, looking to update a small nook, or are hoping to create a real interior moment in your space, then striped wallpaper is a great way to add impact, tell a story and introduce new energy into a room,” says Louisa Tratalos, founder of Colours of Arley.
