Autumn Winter 2024 trends and how to get the look

Autumn Winter 2024 interior design trends

Keen to know what’s big in interior design this season? We look into the latest launches and explore how you can have them in your home…

As I’m writing these lines, I can see the vast greenery unfolding just outside the floor-to-ceiling windows of our new-build office; not deep in the countryside but just outside the capital (yes, really). It’s the perfect setting to discuss the latest Autumn Winter 2024 trends.

1. Kooky garden

A bold, bright mix of patterns and colours has been making waves in interior design as of late. How can you embrace this nature-inspired aesthetic? Through vibrant floral wallpapers, upholstered sofas in fruit patterns, and even animal-printed cushions and linens. The livelier the pattern the better. And if you’re feeling extra-adventurous, combine a few different designs to create your very own, beautifully kooky garden.

2. Mid-century 2.0

Super-popular – especially in the US – in the 1950s and all the way to the late 1960s, mid-century design is clearly having a resurgence this Autumn Winter 2024 season. But I’m noticing it now includes even more clean lines, raw materials, geometric shapes, and lots and lots of brown-based shades, all working together to deliver natural-looking, pared-back spaces.

Think super-thin dining tables, plain wood sideboards, roll top baths standing on round feet, and leather chairs with a bronze finish. Why not join the ‘mid-century 2.0’ fun by incorporating defined shapes and unprocessed textures into your space.

3. Audacious autumn

Autumn is typically the time to embrace warmer palettes reminiscent of shades found in a pumpkin, the fallen leaves in the woods, or the deep green of evergreen trees. Copper brown, light terracotta, forest and sage green, as well as mustard and tangerine are some of the colours evoking the cosy autumnal spirit. Yet this season, a few other, bolder options have been added to the mix.

Picture accent shades such as deep teal and dark purple adding moody splashes of colour to help make those fall tones pop. Interestingly, these hues also make up the perfect palette for colour-blocking – wholesome and daring, each can upgrade your space’s scheme on its own, one statement wall at a time.
