Illuminated smoked glass cabinets are the new kitchen must-have

Out with the old, in with the new – this year at the KBB Show in Birmingham I was drawn to smoked and glazed glass cabinets, with slim, incorporated LED strips. Lush.

If you are team wall cupboards but also love open shelving (without all the dusting and cleaning), then get the best of both worlds with glass cabinets. Change up your scheme by simply upgrading your old cabinet fronts with a trendy, glass design that will elevate your space and add a touch of sophistication.

Smoked and glazed glass cabinets work well within any scheme, from sleek and handleless to modern-rustic designs. Plus, by incorporating LED strips you will step up your lighting game and get that bistro-like look in your kitchen, and also nail your mood lighting.

Smoked glass cabinets and how to make them work in your new kitchen

Go all out and add smoked glass cabinets on your kitchen island too – great for displaying your favourite crockery in style. I loved this set-up by Kutchenhaus.
Not really the most organised type? No worries, I don’t judge. Take a peek at these Kutchenhaus glass cabinets that put only one shelf on display – clever.

Make a statement in your open-plan kitchen-diner with a grand storage space. You can place it next to your home bar so you have all your glasses and decanters close by. I love this sophisticated design by Rotpunkt.

Did you know you can place LED strips on the sides of your cupboards too, and not only inside? Add dimension to your kitchen with a mix of sizes and heights for your cupboards, like these designs by Nobilia.

Tired of the classic, clear glass cabinet fronts?

Then, how about glazed designs? Brighten up your kitchen and get that frosted look with ribbed and mesh cabinet fronts.

One of my favourites this year at the KBB Show in Birmingham was this industrial-style kitchen from Scavolini. From the cool handles and grainy wood to the glazed cabinets.
Armac Martin know how to do a kitchen scheme well – these glazed, mesh door fronts that match the statement handless caught my eye.
