What’s trending: is farmhouse still in style in 2025?

From freestanding baker’s tables, nature-inspired colour palettes, to rustic wooden cabinetry, I’m swooning over farmhouse-style interiors, and I’m not the only one.

The farmhouse style is a classic; however, according to Pinterest’s summer trend predictions, it’s rising back in popularity, with many of us craving that rustic, homely feeling.

A while back, I wrote about Duchess of Sussex’s set kitchen in her Netflix lifestyle series, With love, Meghan, and ever since, I’ve been drawn to this warm and welcoming cottagecore aesthetic. Complete with creamy white classic cabinetry, a statement stainless-steel range cooker, a timeless butler sink, and neutral glazed tiles, it simply oozed modern rustic charm.

So, if you, too, are into farmhouse-style interiors, how do you get the look? Here are some key kitchen elements to help get you started…

Get the farmhouse look

Use Shaker cabinetry as the base of your farmhouse-style kitchen design, be it in a warm neutral, nature-inspired sage green, or muted yellow. Topped with wood worksurfaces, it will bring you one step closer to completing this rustic look.

From period homes, country-style schemes, to industrial spaces, it is versatile, so it works in all types of properties, but if you are not sure this classic door style is for you, Georgina has put together a little guide here.

Next, looking at the wet zone, traditional fireclay Belfast sinks, also known as butler, are ideal for this type of style. However, you will need to think about including this feature early in the design process of your new kitchen. For example, if you choose an apron-front sink, the cabinet space underneath will need to be modified to accommodate the bowl.

To get you inspired, I’ve gathered some bold and beautiful designs here.

With farmhouse-style interiors rising in popularity, freestanding islands, also known as chef’s or baker’s tables, are making a comeback, too. They’re aesthetically charming but also incredibly practical – from allowing easy movement around the table to providing extra worktop space. Here are some stunning ideas for any kitchen size.

Also on my radar…

Bring a touch of farmhouse charm to your bathroom with chic curtains. Whether you’re looking to spruce up your vanity with a basin skirt or need to upgrade your shower, I’ve rounded up some of my favourite ideas here. They’re perfect for adding interest to your space while also being practical, from catching water spray to concealing unattractive storage spaces.

  • Butter yellow is undoubtedly the colour of the season, but if you prefer something a bit more saturated, mustard could be for you. Warm and uplifting, this shade is Aga‘s latest colour launch, sure to brighten up any space.
  • Another popular shade this year is green – fresh and nature-inspired, consider this calming hue if you are thinking about adding a pop of colour to your kitchen, bedroom or bathroom.
  • Don’t have space for an island? Say hello to freestanding chef’s tables, which are equal parts charming and practical. Opt for a rustic design painted in an earthy shade, with a wooden worktop, for a classic farmhouse feeling.
  • Keeping with the wood finishes, from flooring to furniture, they are ideal for adding warmth to your interiors.
  • Is your washing-up zone in need of a refresh? Fluted apron-front sinks are both aesthetically pleasing and highly functional, thanks to their generous bowl size, perfect for kitchens or utility rooms.

I love a storage niche (especially in the kitchen)! These little additions elevate the look and function of a design – they’re great for keeping essentials like spices and oils on hand, as well as creating statement display areas with cookbooks, small appliances, and trinkets you’ve bought on holiday. With the help of tiles, trims, and pops of paint, they make the perfect finishing touch to your new cooking zone.

Another inspirational design that has caught my eye while scrolling on Instagram is this dreamy bathroom by interior and garden design studio Woodhouse and Law, where a statement tub, marble, moody wallpaper, and aged brassware take centre stage.

And lastly, hands up if your eyes have been glued to the TV since the start of the Wimbledon tournament! I had to share this match-ready themed tablescape by British brand Addison Ross. I particularly love the colourful salt and pepper shakers and the rackets used as placemats.

Now, I’m off to enjoy an icy cold drink and watch some more tennis while daydreaming about farmhouse interiors – cheers!
