10 bathroom tile ideas with WOW factor I found on Instagram

Bathroom tile ideas

There’s one thing I can’t wait to do when one day (oh one sweet day) I become a homeowner – renovate the bathroom. Think double-ended freestanding bath, a spacious walk-in shower, underfloor heating and an abundance of tiles in dreamy colourways, shapes and patterns – accent on tiles. A girl can dream, right? But I do believe tiles hold the power to totally transform the look and feel of your space. From recreating that serene atmosphere found in retreat spa destinations with sleek metro tiles to turning your space into the ultimate Instagram-worthy scheme with the trendiest patterns.

I like to think of social media as the inspo haven for all things interiors – with so many renovating accounts, there’s no way you will be left uninspired. If you are looking for ways with walls and floors or new bathroom tile ideas for a challenging DIY adventure (make sure you’ve got the right kit as well as take all safety precautions for cutting tiles etc.), you’ve come to the right place.

And to also make better use of your screen time (you’re welcome), I’ve picked ten spaces with the WOW factor straight from freshly renovated homes… Happy scrolling!

Bath AND shower fan? We’ve got the perfect combo right here. The wetroom features a rainfall shower head, a sleek mixer and lily pad tiles in a teal blue shade laid as a feature wall – they definitely create the perfect backdrop for a quick energising shower.
Then, a clever half wall, dressed in metro tiles in a similar shade, is placed behind the bath to help zone the space and get that much-needed extra storage for any bath essentials. A glass panel is cleverly propped on top to protect the room from water splashes, too.

Patterned tiles are always a great idea to spice up your space. Why not use the same patterned floor tiles in your shower, too, and create a statement look? To not overcrowd your scheme, choose a mix of paint and simple metro tiles for your wall coverings. Here, the dark shade of the shower tiles is highlighted by the matt black enclosure, while the handy storage nook features the same classic metro style – so chic.

I admit, I am an avid pink lover – if I could ever convince my partner, our whole home would be covered in this soft, pastel shade. So when I scrolled through @revivingnumber12‘s pool bathroom, I immediately stopped. The wall is dressed in pink and white tiles that create a trendy zig-zag pattern, while the narrow nook, where the brass mirror and compact basin are placed, features minimalist mosaic-style tiling – lush.

Why hold back? Go all-out on metro tiles in your favourite shade for your wall coverings and add a statement touch with patterned flooring. For example, Helen went for a green tone, so the bathroom oozes a sense of calm and tranquility. The look is tied together by the steel-framed enclosure, dark vanity unit with a matching mirror and a run of sleek black tiles on the same wall.

A clever way to hide any plumbing work is to include a stud wall – it provides that much-needed shelf for aromatherapy, toiletries and other must-haves as well as helps create a stunning design feature. Sophie chose earthy-toned metro tiles that complement the terrazzo flooring perfectly. Don’t forget to play around with textures, patterns and finishes for your window dressing, brassware, bath mats and towels to style your bathroom like a pro.

Yes, you can have a stylish bathroom with monochrome tiles – simply choose two different tile designs you absolutely love, from metro and honeycomb to 70s-style patterns, for your walls and floors. Plus, you don’t have to go full-height, you can dress just half your walls with metro tiles like pictured below, and add interest with tiny hexagonal tiles on your flooring and alcove. How lovely does @that_overton_house‘s space look? The pale pink basin and accessories add a dreamy feel while the brass lighting and mirror frame add warmth.

Small bathroom? No problem! Have the freestanding bath of your dreams and a practical shower in the same space with a clever layout – be it through removing windows or stealing the cupboard space next to the bathroom, like @whitstable_view did. The chic large format terrazzo pattern takes the narrow shower to the next level together with the concrete-effect tiles. To complete the look, the wall panelling was painted in a trendy sage green shade and the satin brassware complements the specks of the terrazzo tiles perfectly.

More of a maximalist? Play around with bathroom tile shapes, designs and colours for a stand-out look. Liz went for sleek metro tiles in different widths on the walls, with navy lily pad tiles behind the shower-bath and toilet, and small hexagon-shaped flooring. The aged brassware, wooden textures and splash of blue help create a stylish and relaxing sanctuary.
