Curved design pieces you’ll love

Curved design products are officially in this year: visual social network Pinterest crunched the numbers, and the future is arc-shaped. One of the easiest trends to embrace, circular products evoke a feeling of comfort, softness and being cocooned – and if that sounds appealing, rest assured the stores are full of these pieces right now. Here’s our round-up of our faves (in no particular order – we love them all equally).

Curved design pieces for the kitchen

An egg chair perfect for an outdoor kitchen dining area

Firstly, how comfy and cosy does this gorgeous rattan egg chair look? We bet you could imagine curling up in it with a book, or a plate of something delicious next to an outdoor kitchen. Apparently we’re due for a heatwave next week, with temperatures soaring up to a sweltering 26°C, so this chair would provide some much needed shade outdoors.

A marble effect table so circular, even the stem is curved

How’s this for a curved piece? The table top, base, and pedestal are all circular (or semi-circular, to be pedantic). The marble effect provides glamour, the curved stainless steel adds character, while the pedestal frees up leg room, creating space underneath. Because who wants mashed legs while they’re dining? Who, indeed.

A bar stool with a curved back and seat

Also available in teal, this vintage Art Deco beauty is perfect for any 1920s Gatsby party. Inspired by the iconic Gubi Beetle dining chair, it has a clamshell-shaped seat, a diamond-patterned backrest and a slim gold frame. It’s so elegant and sophisticated, you’ll have to watch your partygoers like a hawk in case they try to take it home.

A curved pendant light with not one but two spheres, for hanging above the dining table

This glorious globe light is called Betty, and it’s sure to have you going, ‘Ooh, Betty!’ We love its unique bauble top and the fact that you can customise it with a choice of over 30 colours of cable, as well as various metal finishes and multiple ceiling rose options. It’s also available in a smaller size, in case this one is too bootylicious for you.

A tap that curves to give you boiling water

Who needs a kettle when you’ve got a Qettle? The company’s Signature modern tap gives you true, 100°C boiling water, as well as filtered drinking water and normal hot and cold flows. It has an all-stainless-steel build, warm copper finish and distinctive knurling on its handles, as well as – of course – a perfect curve. What’s not to like?

Curved interiors pieces for the bedroom

A whole range of exciting rounded products from Dwell

Dwell’s latest collection is perfect for the curve afiçionado. We particularly like their oak Mella ceiling light, featuring two entwined and illuminated circles. Their silver Heban side table is particularly luxe and is the ideal surface for a couple of curved Prosecco glasses. And we’d also love to curl up on one of their divinely comfy Perno swivel chairs.

A stately and dusty yellow balloon vase

This vase from high-end interiors firm Bo Concept is made from glass and polyresin in a gorgeous shade of dusty yellow. We think it’ll fit right into any curved bedroom scheme. Bo Concept also have a curved theme going on this season, with arc-shaped products including their Lune metal dish and Expose side table.

A classic round brass mirror

The silver tinted Orbis mirror has a thick 18mm brass frame, so if you love metallics, it’s the piece for you. The warm brass contrasts with the cool silver of the mirror, creating a stunning look. Available in four sizes, from 50cm to 100cm, we can already visualise it hanging on our bedroom wall.

A semi-circular curved throw for your bed

This throw actually has ‘curves’ in its name, as it features a curved semi-circle design. Crafted from 100% tufted cotton, it’s wonderfully soft to the touch and is finished with tasselled edges. Available in a natural colourway, it would fit in perfectly with any neutral bedroom colour scheme.

A tablet-shaped ‘pill’ light to brighten your room

This gorgeous curved pendant light is an easy pill to swallow. Made from hand-blown glass, its capsule shape is pictured here in pink but is also available in a vibrant royal blue. You can choose for it to be machined from cast brass or aluminium, while each light can be hung individually or in a cluster.

Two rounded rattan pieces from John Lewis

John Lewis are another retailer who have fully embraced the curved interiors trend. Their Desser Shanghai chair is made from loops of rattan curved around a rattan hoop. Meanwhile, their circular Jute pouffe is crafted from woven jute and filled with poly beads, providing a casual seat or surface for a tray full of drinks.

A toilet roll holder that’s practically an art installation

Can a toilet roll holder be art? It’s a philosophical question, but we think when it comes to the industrial-style Cloud S toilet roll holder, the answer is definitely ‘yes’. With curved spaces in the concrete for five toilet rolls minimum, you might want to play a Jenga-style game and see how high you can pile them. Also available in a larger size.
