Planning a renovation project this year but unsure where to start? Then you’re not alone! We’ve chatted to homeowners (who also have the renovation bug) who are behind some of our favourite Instagram renovation accounts to help provide some motivation.
Social media is one of the best spots for gathering inspiration and discovering new ideas for your renovation. Over on @kbbmagazine, we have a front row seat to many renovators’ projects across the UK, and love watching the progress unfold, from going back to bricks to the final grand reveal.
So, whether you’re transforming your space from scratch or reviving your rooms one by one and need a boost of inspiration, here is part one of our two-part Instagram renovation accounts to follow in 2025 series…

What were your initial plans for the renovation?
Very little had been done to the house over the last 60 years, so it needed a full overhaul. I needed to rip out everything from the fireplace and kitchen to the bathroom and carpets. What I hadn’t anticipated was the extent to which the roof of the old outhouse was damaged. In the end, we had to take the entire roof off and replace it with a new one.
What was the inspiration for your renovation?
My house is a small two-bedroom Victorian terrace built in 1880, so, for me, the inspiration for the bedrooms and bathrooms is in keeping with the period.
In the bedroom, I have chosen feminine colours with a beautiful floral wallpaper by Paint & Paper Library. I have introduced some panelling and renovated the original windows. I am really excited about the bathroom. It is such a small space but I found a rolltop bath by BC Designs along with some gorgeous tiles from Quorn Stone, which will look luxurious.
So, what’s next for the renovation, and what can we expect in 2025?
I will be decorating the lounge and dining area and completing the heart of the house. Then, the bathroom needs to be installed and tiled – I can’t tell you how excited I am to get a working toilet again. We will see the return of my original doors, and I will have to make some decisions on keeping the original wood versus colour drenching, which I am also a big fan of!

What were your initial plans for the renovation?
We wanted to create our perfect first home. This is all new to us so, we’re very fortunate to have family and friends in the trade industry to support us on this journey, as we don’t know how we would have managed this without them.
What was the inspiration for your renovation?
Our home is nearly 100 years old and we fell in love with the traditional character of this property. Our inspiration was to harness the traditional characteristics of our house mixed with our quirks and personalities. We prefer a traditional and vintage style and couldn’t have picked a more perfect home to accompany our vision and passions.
What can we expect in 2025 from your Instagram renovation account?
The next stage of our renovation project is to get our kitchen tiled and our hallway complete, and to continue adding our flair by sourcing unique pieces to add throughout our home.
We will be focusing on the garden in the springtime to ensure we can make the most of our beautiful British summer, before hopefully being able to host next Christmas.
3. @renovatingthirty_two
What were your plans for the renovation?
We always knew the house needed a full refurb, but with a tiny budget, we had to tackle most of the work ourselves. Grand plans quickly turned into survival mode, like living without a bathroom for two weeks because it wasn’t finished in time of us moving in. It has been chaotic but the amount of things we’ve learnt has been immeasurable.
What was the design inspiration?
Our design inspiration came from our love for modern, clean, and minimalistic spaces. The kitchen design was inspired by the saying ‘the kitchen is the heart of the house’.
In the bathroom, we fell for the texture of microcement – it’s natural, seamless and just a little bit luxe. For the bedroom, we embraced the limewash effect for that raw, unfinished look paired with neutral furnishings, wood accents and plenty of plants to create a calm, earthy retreat.
What’s next for your renovation?
In 2025, we’re focusing on making the house truly liveable! First is the living room – we’re doing up a media wall and turning the space into a cosy area. Then, we’re tackling the stairs by giving them a much-needed makeover.
The second bedroom is also due for a total revamp into a practical office or guest room. Finally, we’re laying down laminate flooring throughout the house.
4. @studiotabaka
What were your original plans for the renovation?
When we bought this house five years ago, it was a total wreck and hadn’t been lived in for over a year. We had an 18-month-old and I was also pregnant at the time, so our first priority was getting the upstairs to be liveable which meant putting in a new bathroom and taking the walls back to brick. We then did the loft a few years ago and added two bedrooms and a bathroom.
In the past year, we have been working hard on a self-built wraparound extension which is now almost complete.
What was the inspiration behind the kitchen, bedroom and bathroom designs?
I took inspiration from the “three-word method” sometimes used to help clarify personal style and applied it to interior design – so the words ‘Welcoming’, ‘Elegant’ and ‘Curated’ have become a North Star for any design decisions, which really helps.
I’ve also leaned heavily on natural materials such as wood, linen, brass and marble, which I think all look even better with a little patina!
What can we expect in 2025?
We still have a bathroom to do in the loft, for which I am thinking warm zellige tiles and unlacquered brass hardware as we get a lot of light up there, and the downstairs loo, which has zero natural light, so we will be leaning into darker tones paired with a William Morris wallpaper.
We’re looking forward to keeping an eye on these exciting Instagram renovation accounts in 2025. Good luck to them, and to you and your project, too!
