Cool, dark, industrial-style kitchens with nature-inspired textures, heavy materials and dark finishes won me over this year at the KBB Show in Birmingham.
So, move over marble (you’re still in my heart, though), we’ve got a new crush this year. Enter: concrete-effect worktops.
Be it porcelain, laminate or quartz, it’s not the material we’re focusing on, but the finish. Replicating the look and feel of concrete, the latest designs stood out against grainy wooden kitchens at the Show. They were also complemented by matt boiling-water taps, flush black appliances, and steel shelving.

Add a nice contrast to your concrete-effect worktop with a matching matt black sink and tap. This scheme by Kutchenhaus features a light grey textured worksurface. Dark and contemporary, Scavolini‘s stand stood out with a nod to the industrial style. It featured metal handles, concrete-effect worktops, and glazed cabinets – so lush. Include a statement feature on your kitchen island just by adding a couple of open shelves. Why not use them to display cook books, nice crockery or ribbed drizzlers?
