10 Instagram renovation accounts to follow in 2022

Instagram renovation accounts

Aaah, don’t you just love the instant urge to start a renovation project just as the clock strikes midnight and a new year begins? Because I certainly do. There’s something about new beginnings that screams moodboards, knock-throughs, extensions and complete room revamps, right? Have you used your New Year’s wish on a kitchen revamp or a doer-upper project? Shh, promise I won’t tell.

So, if you are ready to embark on a new project in 2022, one of the first steps is to screenshot your ideal styles, design ideas and inspiring imagery. But where do you actually start? Of course, where else than with the app we keep forgetting to close from time to time, Instagram (hands up if you can’t even look at your screen-time – it’s a judge-free zone here!).

Along with Pinterest, Instagram is one of the best places to look for renovation inspiration as you can always find an abundance of new renovation accounts that are either just starting work on their homes, or who share their does and don’ts and lessons learnt to help you renovate yours.

I’m going to “blame” it on my job but I’m constantly on the lookout for new Instagram renovation accounts to follow – use #kbbmag to show us your renovation progress and for a chance to be featured too.

And this year is no different – I’ve already got my eyes on 10 Insta accounts in the midst of renovating and I can’t wait to see the final results. Fancy a nose around, too? Course you do…

After spending lockdowns number one and three back in 2021 sprucing up the garden, the homeowners of this 1875 Victorian village home in the Cotswolds moved out and onto building an extension. Exciting! Work continued and after six months and two weeks, they moved back in. Time for the fun to begin – they went with a green grey colour palette for the scheme of the house, chic wall panelling in both the bathroom and kitchen, and sleek metro tiles. Check out their story highlights to catch up on the progress so far.

Imogen and Tom, with their adorable Cocker Spaniel Holly started working on their home renovation in January 2021. They slowly took their Victorian terrace in Walthamstow to the next level with a new house front (which has a pink door!), revamping the bedroom, painting the bathroom door and staircase, and finalising the living room. There are plenty of before and afters to see, with helpful tips on how they transformed their space, built the wardrobe, and styled the rooms. Looking forward to seeing what’s next.

After working with three architects over a five month period, Emma and her husband applied for planning consent and began working on their dream home, which was built in the early 1900s. Their plans included a full external refresh to make the house look more Edwardian, plus back, side and front extensions. Now that’s a big project! They are currently three years into their five-year renovation, so there’s plenty to see.

Lover of colour Rachel, her husband Liam and four girls moved in their home back in 2020, but the renovation work began at the end of 2019. They revamped the interiors, from the bedrooms to the ensuite, and are currently in the midst of their extension project, which will double the kitchen and dining room space and turn the master bedroom window into a balcony – nice. So far it features bi-fold doors and underfloor heating. Next up, they’re fitting the kitchen and landscaping the garden – keep your eyes peeled.

Next up in our Instagram renovation accounts roundup is Niamh and Matt’s project in Tooting. They moved in their home back in April 2019, and the plans for the first part of the renovation included building an extension, finalising the master bedroom, bathroom, and living room, as well as painting the exterior. Make sure to scroll down on their grid to catch up. Now, they are onto part two of the project which includes putting the finishing touches to their new kitchen, revamping the hallways and stairs, refreshing the gardens and renovating the utility and downstairs loo, too.

Just before Christmas, interior designer at Soho House Samantha Latham completed on her dream property. She’s embarking on this process without any trades, except for new electrics and plumbing, so I’m really excited to see how her home is going to turn out. Samantha has already spent the last few days removing walls, ceilings, radiators, wires, pipes and floors, and will start planning what the new rooms are going to look like.

New to the Gram, Grace and Daniel are currently renovating their three-bed Victorian terrace in South-East London. They’ve got big plans for the new year – starting with closing off the opening between the two reception rooms, then removing the wall between the reception room and kitchen, and adding a side-return and single story 2m extension in order to create an open plan kitchen-diner-living area, with a chic cloakroom under the stairs. Plus, they also plan to add two bedrooms and a bathroom in the loft – lush.

Imagine waking up and going to sleep with the view of the sea – well, Maria and Tom are turning their 1860’s detached Victorian house into their forever home, which has dreamy views! Their plans are currently focused on the kitchen, where they want to create a large open plan space by removing the main wall between the kitchen and dining room, as well as removing the partition walls between the kitchen and the pantry. They’re also planning to transform the bathroom into a modern space with a beautiful stained glass window as the focal point.

Carey recently started the renovation of their forever home in September 2021. Think home gym, pool, kids playroom, and more! The kitchen will be ripped out in a few years, the walls will be knocked down and the roof will be vaulted, so for now Carey hand-painted the cabinetry, changed the handles and chairs. Just take a look at the power a fresh lick of paint has – WOW…

Looking for inspiration for your extension? The homeowners of this 1930s detached home received planning permission for a two storey extension in September last year, which is almost done! So far they have almost fully completed a bathroom renovation and have two bedrooms and a lounge plastered too – exciting content coming in 2022.
