As we’re on the last stretch of summer, we’ve explored lookbooks, researched themes and analysed colour palettes to bring you the latest Autumn Winter 2023 interiors trends.
From rich Damson hues – perfect for enveloping your home in a cocooning feeling – to cosy, tactile materials, here are four of our favourite interiors trends for AW23…
Autumn Winter 2023 trends: Greens
Green, from eucalyptus to matcha, is one of the most popular shades for decorating your home this season. The trend forecasting organisation WGSN and colour system Coloro have named ‘Sage Leaf’ as one of the Autumn Winter 23/24 colours. And what’s not to love? It’s an idyllic shade that oozes calmness, ideal for bringing a touch of the outdoors in as we approach the colder months.
“Green, especially richer, warmer greens, are trending for this autumn and winter. These shades work for both classic and traditional schemes, as well as modern or more cutting-edge designs,” says Josie Medved, design manager at Symphony Group and Laura Ashley. “The ideal room for green? The kitchen! Shades of green can work particularly well for spaces which involve cooking, socialising and entertaining guests.”
Consider pairing a Shaker kitchen, painted in a soft sage green shade, with wood accents, antique brass handles and artisan décor for a rustic aesthetic. Or, at the opposite spectrum, why not opt for marble surfaces and pops of gold for a dash of luxe?
Damson
One of the Autumn Winter 2023 interiors trends we are most excited about is damson. This fruity red-purple tone is inspired by the British countryside. “Damson works effortlessly into customers’ existing schemes and is a shade that works well with many tones, from a warm palette of gold and copper, to cooler shades of blue,” says Melanie Archer, colour expert at John Lewis. “It’s as easy as adding a pop of colour to neutral spaces or embracing a full colour drenched room.”
This rich hue feels warm and inviting, yet has an opulent allure, which makes it easy to integrate in different schemes.
Afraid Damson will date? “Damson has a beautifully vibrant tone that can work effortlessly into spring and summer. By incorporating Damson accessories into the home, you can ensure that a room will look vibrant year in, year out with ease,” advises Melanie.
In the bedroom, you can embrace the trend through damson bed linen, throws and cushions. Want to go all out? Look up – why not add warmth to your scheme and paint the ceiling in this deep hue?
And in the bathroom, you can opt for red marble basins, statement tubs and monochrome tiles – or damson-coloured accessories and soft furnishings for a more pared-back scheme.

Jewel tones
“For the autumn season, we’ll see richer colours, jewel tones and warming shades come to the forefront. Think deep burgundy, emerald greens, burnt oranges, caramel, chocolate browns and sapphire blues,” says Sophie Girling, head of retail at Kelling Home. “Not only are they timeless colours, but they effortlessly capture that warming feeling that is synonymous with the cooler seasons.”
To decorate the bedroom this Autumn Winter 2023 season, lean towards luxurious velvet fabrics drenched in these rich jewel tones such as plush cushions, upholstered bed frames and chunky chairs.
Achieve an energising scheme in your bathroom with the help of a freestanding tub painted in a mood-boosting hue. Roman blinds dressed in cheerful patterns are ideal for both adding interest and ensuring privacy. To finish off the look, set the right atmosphere with ambient lighting.
The slow living trend
This Autumn Winter 2023 interiors trend is all about calming neutrals and heavy, comforting materials. The colder months are reserved for wrapping up warm, perched up on a squishy sofa, and recharging after living al fresco and being out and about during summer.
Anything from organic materials, such as cane and rattan, to rustic wood and handwoven textiles goes. Slow living is focused on prioritising our wellbeing and designing rooms that feel like a sanctuary.
Refresh your bedroom with mango wood furniture and rattan bed frames. For a nurturing feeling, decorate the bed with olive-coloured linen and a myriad of cotton cushions and knitted throws.
And, in your bathroom, replace your old bath mat with a stylish jute rug and dot spa-like accessories throughout your room such as wood bath caddies, foot stools and aromatherapy.
