Hello May 2021 issue!

Welcome to the May 2021 issue of Kitchens Bedrooms & Bathrooms magazine.

There’s a lot of talk of the ‘lockdown effect’ in interiors right now. In design terms, the last year has been rather exciting.

I’ve experienced tenfold how much the quest for the perfect kitchen, bedroom and bathroom means to you and heard from many about the new projects you’re tackling.

There’s no denying lockdown has encouraged us to forge ahead with renovations that may have been ‘maybe one day’ thoughts before. It’s allowed us time to reflect on how our spaces could and should be better.

Home bars are becoming a staple; at-home entertaining spaces have never been more sought after; top appliances are making their way onto many wishlists in a plight to perfect those fakeaway and sourdough skills; and requests for integrated home working areas and zoned living are much more prevalent.

The effect has spread outdoors too, which you’ll know if you’ve tried, like me, to get your hands on garden furniture lately. Now a valuable room in its own right, the garden is a place for bubbled, socially distanced meet-ups so we’re investing in making them look the part, complete with an outdoor kitchen, comfortable dining area and space for after-dinner entertaining. For the bedroom and bathroom?

Well, it’s all about sanctuary and escape: creating a space of total chill. Who doesn’t need that? I think we’ve always known the importance of home, but recent events have taking this to new heights.

In the May 2021 issue, discover how to create your ideal kitchen indoors and out. There are 10 steps to getting an amazing alfresco cooking area, while we reveal which kitchen layout will best suit your lifestyle.

And if the past year has made you realise you need more space, there’s a rather excellent feature with extension planning advice.
